Boiling Beneath

Boiling Beneath

A Poem by JustinKH
"

Sometimes you just gotta write

"

It bubbles beneath the surface

Brought slowly to a boil

It percolates in the pot

Stewing, cooking in my mind

It heats up slowly

It lingers, it stews

The pot begins to shake

The gas now escaping
Out the sides the water rushes

Spilling over the water flows

It cannot be confined

For many a days it sat

The heat in it rising

Till no longer could it remain

Spilling out it comes

Creations unconstrained
I am the pot bubbling

Outward flows my writing

No lid can contain

Nothing restrain

The stewing in my mind

Interesting metaphor for the creative process here. Of course, there is also another side to the matter. That is when you wait patiently for an idea to arise, even in the faintest manner, and the engine just won't start. No matter what you do, only the sounds of silence. No wonder so many great writers have also been drunks.
