Scattered Little Pieces

Scattered Little Pieces

A Poem by Justine

I lie in little pieces

Scattered on the floor.

Completely alone,

A part here,a piece there

As they walk by without notice.

Day after day,

Unable to piece

Myself back together alone.

They all walk by

One after another.

None of the pieces

Are of interest to anyone else.

Flawed, and broken

Chipped and cracked

To their eyes

I lie scattered in pieces as days go by.

Then you come along,

You walk by like everyone else

But you stop,

Something catching your eye,

And you come back.

A hidden smile here,

A quiet giggle there,

You pick up the scattered pieces

One by one.

The flawed and broken

Chipped and cracked,

They are perfect little pieces

to your eyes.

You collect them slowly

Learning each one of my smiles,

Memorizing each laugh and giggle.

As the days go by

Patiently you gather and piece me back together.

Perfect little pieces

To form me.

In the time you gave they became

Perfect little pieces to you,

And when you finished I stood before you.

You took the time,

to stop and pick up my little pieces.
