Daddy Why?

Daddy Why?

A Poem by Justine

Why won’t you come find me?

Why don’t you want me?

I was the mistake of your youth,

the unwanted kink in your plans.

You say you love me,

With no meaning behind your words.

The hole in me will never be filled.

Never by the one who should have filled it.

Daddy why don’t you come find me?

Why don’t you want me?

I keep filling the void,

But it never lasts.

It breaks my heart over and over again.

I can’t count the times.

I throw my whole heart into it all

Trying to fill, trying to please.

To only watch it break

More than I can count.

What I wouldn’t give

To be seven again,

For that last night’s kiss goodnight.

Just before my world broke,

Just before I had to grow up.

Just before I saw who you are.

The naive security

that daddy loves me,

Daddy won’t leave me.
