A Shattered Pig

A Shattered Pig

A Chapter by justice

A young boy

walks into the bank

with a shattered pig.

He waits in line

behind an old woman

who is supporting herself

with a cane.

She wears a blue dress

with a floral pattern

and covers her head

in a shawl.

The man behind the counter

wears a new suit

and a skewed smile.

The old woman asks

“How can I wire money

to the Prince of Nairobi?”

The suit's smile never fades.

He takes her money

and tells her:

“I will take care of this for you.”

She thanks him

and slowly ticks away.

The young boy walks up to the counter.

He is wearing

a dirty white shirt

and jeans with holes in both knees.

He asks the man:

“Can you fix my piggy bank?”

The man responds:

“No. I can't.

But, you could give me your money.

I will take care of it for you.”

with his same sly smile.

The young boy responds:

“No thanks, I will try to fix it myself.”

The suit's smile fades to a scowl.

He offers the young boy a Dum-Dum

but he refuses

because he doesn't want to spoil his dinner.

this is good mate, although i think you should maybe make it shorter to make it more poetic, rather than narrative. The recurrence of a 'suit' in your work also works well, because as a reader of your work i can relate your feelings towards people like this with just the mention of the word. Keep it up!

I like this story. Kids can be very wise. You create a interesting situation and very good ending to the poem. A excellent poem.
