Drained

Drained

A Poem by Destiny Izaguirre Cortez

The days have been passing by

I’ve been loosing track of time

For weeks I've cried

But you haven't noticed the silent pain

Quietly I lay

It's dark as a cave

I'm emotionally drained

Covered in a sea of tears

The energy around me begins to uplift

The shadows appear as they do every night

Whispering and comforting me to surround me with love and security

But, she whom is my protector, comes closer and hugs me ever so tightly, "Don't worry my  child. It'll be alright. "

I lay back down and close my eyes

Oblivious you are

That night

So blinded by the light

You didn't even hear or notice my cries

I laid next to you; How come you didn't notice ?

Oh, that's right

I left you alone, made sure my cries were silent as the country night

This was a pleasure to read.the feeling of isolation and loneliness can be felt throughout the story. Well written. I'm sure I will read this again.
