I Will Honor YouA Poem by Prosefully YoursMissing mother, honoring her and the women closest to me
My heart feels you even more that you're far away...
"I Will Honor You" All the things I know; All the things I don't know, All the things I've learned from my mother From my wife, from my sisters" From all parts of the she's... All the love, the anger, the contemplation, the acceptance From every aspect of a genesis to Becoming full circle and over again I've learned from you, I've taken from you I've dined with you; taken part with you. To know that now We are here together And no one could ever tear me away from you... Now, even still, that all I have is a memory... Even now that your laugh is fading...and your voice disappearing...all I have is this picture But oh, how that picture tells a story... Your beautiful smile, your telling eyes, Some pain, some joy. And even though some may never understand.. I know it will be ok; I know that it's okay, I know that I'M okay. You were here with me; Together our presence was forbidden And things were much too cloudy. You are here now, Although only now in my heart It aches for you, But your spirit fills me up. The man I've become honors you, And the part you birthed honors you-- As they've become one--we will always honor you In every way... The tall in my stride, The laughter I bear, The cherishing of my wife The example I leave as I trail along Will always be reminiscent of you... Your joy, your pain, your everlasting love of The maker Your songs written; your songs sang Will honor you... All the parts of me; All the parts of you Intertwined with the relationships With the women closest to my heart Will honor you; I, will honor you. © 2017 Prosefully Yours |
