Let Me be ME

Let Me be ME

A Poem by Just Plain Me
"

I'm so f*cking mad at my mom! She thinks she can control every detail of my life.

"

College, grades, scholarships...that's all you care about
of this I have no doubt.
You can't go one day without telling me what to do,
quite honestly I'm starting to hate you.

I don't need you to hold my hand,
its about time I make my own damn stand.
Mom back off and let me be me,
and you'll see exactly what I can be.

I'm not Amanda or Anthony, and certainly not Joey...
but why can't you see?
I am strong enough to make it,
so I don't need any of your s**t.

You can force me to join a club, but that's that,
you can't make me play the act.
I don't want to be like everyone one else here,
but that doesn't mean I wan't them to leer.

Is this really the mom I never wanted to share?
No that I met her, I really don't care.
I haven't needed her since the fourth grade,
your influence on me then began to fade.

Taking care of everone else was what you did,
so I learned to not be a kid.
I don't need you to help me across Life's street,
I have already made it at least 50 feet.
