Inadequate

Inadequate

A Poem by Just Plain Me
"

I was kinda glum and bored

"

I am inadequate,
haven’t I learned that yet?
No one is going to want to keep me,
so I’ll just set everyone free.

Don’t feel responsible for my mistakes,
trying to stop them would be like trying to stop earthquakes.
Don’t be sorry that I’m gonna be alone,
nothing can beat the friendship you guys have shown.

I am coming up short,
when will I give up on this sport?
Life is not a game at which I can win or lose,
its just a bunch of choices that I have yet to choose.

Don’t think that its your fault I feel this way,
you can’t look after me every day.
Don’t fill your hearts with regret,
I’m defiantly not worth any fret.

I am what I am and there’s nothing to be done about it,

Am I ever going to out grow this s**t?
Anyone worth their salt will run away,

Looking back and forgetting that day.

Don’t get upset on my behalf,
don’t hold back your smile and laugh.
Don’t say things you don’t truly mean,
because a liar is the worse kind of fiend.

I must admit i often feel inadequate. When ever i disappoint someone or cant cheer up one of my friends i feel i'm not good enough to do anything. All i can say is as long as you always do the best you can, anyone who asks for more is a fool. But as always, i'll go on ignoring my own advice.

Some poems work well with rhyme, some don't. I honestly think the rhyme here let you down. I think you should have left it as a free-verse!

i've felt like that before plenty, still do sometimes. im sure you have certain situations and events related to your creation of this but it is very relatable to others as well. I like the use of repetition with the questioning. You show a certain depth of hopelessness in combination with the inadequacy and making it subtly powerful, i like the way you worked that. Nice write, although i think some of the flow and rhythm is thrown off by the rhyme. just a comment.
