My Pride

My Pride

A Poem by Just Plain Me
"

Like i said...i got in a fight with my mom.

"

Do you realize what my pride is?
  Its my way to hide.
Not whats on the outside, oh no.
  but what's on the inside.

Fear and hurt, glory and love
You see none of that in me.
I'm your child, shouldn't you know?
Oh wait, my pride has always hidden those.

I tried to put it in a box,
  it burnt it.
I tried to chain it to the wall,
  it broke the chains.
I tried drowning it in the river,
  it learned to swim.

Nothing I do, can rid me of this damnable pride...
but you could try to accept it, along with me.
