Too Little, Too Late

Too Little, Too Late

A Poem by Just Plain Me

You've done too little,
just a little too late.
You've already made your bed,
you've filled me with hate.

Sweet words and soft kisses,
yes they melt my soul.
You don't seem to understand though,
you can't repair me back to whole.

You say you're sorry,
that you want to come home.
You say you still love me,
but that has yet to be shown.

The me you loved is dead,
she was smothered into oblivion.
You took no hostages,
and didn't spare a innocent civilian.

I will always love you,
that I swear.
But to forgive you,
is something I cannot bear.

You've waited too long,
you won't give enough.
You need to get your priorities straight,
or I'm going to call your bluff.
