Almost

Almost

A Poem by Tricia O'Brien
"

Young Recovery

"
Tempers at an all time high
Hurtful things are said
All shared is lost
Love kicked out the back door
They stand still and watch helplessly as all that they've created is torched
Not wanting any of this that they just welcomed into their secret place
They fight endlessly to retreat
They push when everything in the two is dying to just be pulled back in
When did they become so careless
Two cracked pieces that just want to fit
Mixed up in selfish old behaviors and thinking
They've fallen short, so soon, so early, they fear
Fear of starting old used up patterns
Similar and yet on opposite ends of the spectrum
They need to stay vigilant and nest together in the middle
Stubborn and relentless
They've fought and conquered more challenging battles independently, together, they slaughter these and survive
