Again

Again

A Poem by Tricia O'Brien
"

Young Recovery

"
A tornado uprooted all she planted
Years worth of work
Root, stem and branch, all detached, lost and gone
No seed left behind
A despair begins to develop
It's dark, heavy and flourishes like hell
She digs and digs
Hands covered in earth
She becomes tired and discounts all attempts to recover
She makes room within her new found wreckage, covers up whatever she can
She begins to pray
She prays for rain
She's now soaked in defeat, again
Sadly, she's quite comfortable
She's cold and no longer hiding
She wears remorse like a birthmark
A hurricane flies through unexpectedly and rips apart all that she's finally accepted
All she's learned to love, respect and count on
Knocked down and barely hanging on, she caves
She breaks
All that's been created has been taken or moved about
She's lost once again, but knows she's not alone anymore
