Blind

Blind

A Poem by Tricia O'Brien
"

Young Recovery

"
She wants something unobtainable
She seeks imaginary things
Countless wishes
A handful of short term rentals
Nothing lasting
Nothing substantial
Boxes line her walls
Years of baggage
Nameless tags
She thinks of shared lives
She entertains the brief commercials
This temporary escape has now expired
A momentary lapse transformed into a decade
An empty town overpopulated
She reaches out to embrace the same unpleasant hollowed vessel that hasn't added a thing
Hasn't added a thing but everything she can't stand
This something unobtainable stands just feet away from her and just waits
Waits and hopes she'll look over, she doesn't
She just passes on by
Blinded by self
