The Brotherhood

The Brotherhood

A Poem by Just Simple Sounds
"

This piece was written for my fellow Marines, mainly frontline Marines.

"

Though they talk about it, they don't understand
They'll never understand the loss, the cost, the traumatic disorder, the order, the chaos
They just can't grasp it, he art of war, the fog of war, the love, the hate, the inevitable fate
The fact that here, roses are dead and violets are red due to the bloodshed
Doves don't fly in skies over lands where suppressed cries lie
Hope doesn't exist where rain can't wash away pain
See its a job, not done for ones self because selflessness is an understood and contagious trait
It's pride of country, the men to their left and right
It's the man with so much determination, that even with fear in his eyes will look into yours and say, "Till the end"
"Retreat? Hell we just got here"
Honor courage and commitment
They will never understand the code, the pride, the history, the brotherhood, the institution
Because they will never walk your shoes
