Haunt

Haunt

A Poem by Jordan Varner

My body is a violently haunted house
Filled with the gnashing and screaming
Of the ghosts of my pasts selves
And the people they once loved
"Out, spirits!" i cry, trembling
The memories overwhelm
I wonder if I can call the ghostbusters
To exorcise the guilt from my mind

I scratch at the door like a scared dog
Until it unlatches in the morning
And lets sunlight in
Knowing that it's only a matter of time before
The dark falls again
And they rematerialize
