Angelic

Angelic

A Poem by AustinDanielSmith

Years went by,
He still pondered as to why he never said,
"I love you",
Still plagued by never saying the goddamn words,
He see's,
She's successful now.
Her boyfriend looks like a 7th century Greek sculpture,
She travels to Japan,
To New York City,
She models now.
He lays in bed, drunk
A notebook beneath his hand...
Still nothing,
Just a memory to her.

The time in high school they spent,
Years ago,
Just a memory,
So he drinks more...
Maybe she'll become a blur?
Like his vision.
From the cheap whiskey,
From the cheap cigarettes..
She saw him a couple of years ago,
For they had still been in touch,
Then he could have said it,
She hinted for him too,
So he drowned the words with cheap wine,
And fucked himself to sleep,
Maybe in years to come,
He'll finally say,
"I love you".
