![]() Dreams Do Come TrueA Story by Junn07![]() A short story about freedom and an unexpected romance![]() He was there, standing in the door frame, scars and new cuts covered his body, he glared at me and opened his mouth like he wanted to tell me something, but couldn’t get it out so he closed it again. Still, he continued to glare at me while I did nothing but stare at him just like in my dream. He isn’t supposed to be here, I thought. Father would be angry with me. I don’t want him here not only because of Father, but also because he sometimes makes me uncomfortable. There are times, when he’s not glaring at me, that he looks at me like he wants to eat me and I’m not at all certain that I’ll stop him if he does. I don’t know why he always stand there in the door frame, I don’t know why he doesn’t ever enter, and I don’t know why he doesn’t just leave me alone. All I know is that we are the same, him and I, two lonely beings trapped by Father’s will. I don’t know much about him because he came here before me, not even his name. All I know is that he is a werewolf, a being able to transform from human to wolf and vice versa, he has chin length wavy black hair and brown eyes that sometimes turn into yellow when he looks at me. I also know that he visits me everyday in my room and everyday I will see new scars on his skin. “You...” I snapped out of my musings when I heard a familiar voice and focused my attention on him. When he saw that I he had my full attention, he cleared his throat and tried to speak again. “You... run” I tried to process what he said, but I still can’t grasped what he’s trying to get at until I heard several howls outside my room. I looked at him again and tried to put a questioning look on my face since my voice was lost to me and to my relief, he seems to get what I tried to convey. “ My... pack... help... kill... Father...” I looked at him with amazement and giddiness because for the first time, the faint stirring of hope came alive in my chest. I can be free! I gave him a huge smile but then I remembered about the shackle on my ankle. I won’t be able to run because of it, but I don’t know where the key is. Father always have it with him in case he needs to release me so that I can relieve myself. I pointed my shackle to him and shook my head to show that I cannot run. He then entered my room and pulled at the chain until it broke and then he hauled me into his arms and ran along the corridors until we reached the outside of Father’s mansion. He then set me down gently on the ground and told me to run again but I stayed rooted on the spot. No one is left. I’m alone. Nowhere to go. I looked at him again and shook my head and he seemed to become annoyed. He released a sigh, stepped closer to me, and kissed me full on my lips. “Fine... now... you’re mine... wait here”, he told me as he strode towards the mansion where the sound of fighting can be heard. Huh. It seems that he didn’t want to eat me after all. I guess my dreams do come true. © 2015 Junn07 |
