The Moon in Me

The Moon in Me

A Poem by JunieMoon

I’m so tired

Of my feelings being so big

Of feeling like the Moon

Is the only comparison

With my emotions

She is attuned

Because the Sun

All she ever does is shine

Radiates her energy

Even through the clouds

Her rays can still blind.

But the Moon

Sure she is bright

She is beautiful too

But all she ever sees

Is darkness.

The waves determined

By her inevitable fall.

Yet her beams

Never harm us.

She never stays the same

Her phases drastically changed by

The lack of light that she can not claim.

And did you know she’s slowly leaving?

Like being on earth is simply too tough.

She isn’t even living here

But being so close to us

It’s just too much.

Because living

It is a constant battle

But, at the finish line

There is no prize.

Just release from these shackles

Release from all of this pain.

And maybe she know’s this

The Moon.

As she inches farther away

From us each year.

So maybe,

I am

The Moon

But, with no stars

No light to guide me

No gravitational pull

To keep me here.

But, I’ll stay.

Through the pitch black

Of my Today’s.

Knowing the light

Will fully shine on me

Every 29 days.
