THROUGH THE WOODS I MET YOUA Poem by prachi prangya agastiwhen i first saw you...I entered the woods Through the old lost road Of a summer evening late, When the night-air cooled on the leaves When the birds whistles their mates Dancing flowers, bright green flies The scratch and rattle of wind-tossed trees I heard as I walked A soothing hum, a slow tune I was puzzled but my impulse drove Through the slow falling of the leaves There was darkness yet a call I was lost In the melodious tune In the sunset as the twilight arrived Beneath the twisted trees clawing to the sky I saw your eyes, narrowed down Adjusting the strings, playing it You sat there so innocent and sweet You looked up and you smiled I stepped up to you, I sat And you continued to hum Your voice, your face You were like an angel sent from heaven When I first met you I had hearts in my eyes Listening your voice Holding my eyes with yours I never knew a stranger more than it Yes a stranger but more That’s how I would see you That’s how I would remember When I first saw you…. © 2013 prachi prangya agastiAuthor's Note
