Ageless

Ageless

A Poem by RunawayWriter

I think if you're going to fall in love with a certain feature on someone you should fall in love with their eyes. Unlike every other feature on the human body, the eyes never age. When you're old and grey you will look into his eyes and see the young handsome boy who was brave enough to take you on your first movie date. You'll see the girl who looked at you like you were the only guy in the universe. You will look into your friends eyes and have thirty years of memories flash in the back of your mind, then you smile as you realize you spent all those memories with them by your side. Our eyes hold our stories, our experiences, they hide our secrets and reveal our emotions. There's a reason we look into each other's eyes when we speak of joy, despair, guilt or frustration, we find comfort in knowing we are connecting with the deepest parts of another's soul. There's a reason we smile when we make eye contact with another person, because they're not looking at your messy hair or your mismatched socks; they're looking at you as a whole instead of breaking you up into pieces. There's a reason we rather talk to someone who looks us in the eye while interacting with us instead of others who look too preoccupied to even pay attention to us. There's always a reason; as we grow up our eyes see a million and one things differently, the only thing that they'll never see change are themselves.
