Sunny days

Sunny days

A Poem by JustJulie

Sundays lemon yellow
Gardens of pumpkins mellow
Oh how the winter kills it all
Each sunkissed dream dying at fall
Taking with it the greens untold
Robbing the earth of sunny golds
Now till another spring I must wait
For a slice of orange sun on my plate.

i love this simple little poem, an ode to fine weather. such a small thing, yet even this gets robbed of us half the year. i say this even though i am a winter-person. i welcome the coldness, the jackets, sitting before the fireplace. but i can understand your feelings really well. we are different, but poetry connects people in magical ways. it might have been a quick poem for you, but i connected with it and with your spirit just a tiny bit.

Gee
I like this:)
When I joined the cafe back in 2014, writing solely rhyming verse, the best advice given to me was to count the syllables in each line trying to keep them all the same or to read aloud and tap out the beat of the poem whilst doing this.

I must try it out. Good tip and thank you.
Winter make the days shorter and so cold Julie. I am waiting for Spring also. My old garden is resting till April. Amazing dance of words and thoughts. I did like.

Day dreaming of summers is what we do for half our life. Thank you for the love.
The rhyming scheme is so beautiful, Every word paints a beautiful image of the season, and I love the last two lines, Its quite cherubic but with a hint of longing. So heartwarmingly written!

It's around zero where I'm today so summer seems extra sweet. Thank you for the love.
