Love your foes

Love your foes

A Poem by JustJulie

Love those who love you not
The ones who love you know
You love them high and low
But show your haters what you've got
Love those who love you not
The ones who love you will
Let their blood for you spill
But your foes need caring still
Love those who love you not
The ones who know you smile
Going with you for miles
But your enemies you must beguile
Love those who love you not.

it is a sharp re-telling of Christ's edict but that was kept whimsical and fun. the metre and rhyme really brought this work to life showing that a moral life is not an arduous one but one full of joys.
i hope you keep practising your skills - writing, like anything else is one anyone can improve in! look forward to seeing new work.

I couldn't agree with you more JustJulie. Doing this weakens your foes. More power to you.

Hi, I gotta say that I have to agree with Chris. Sometimes when we try to hard to rhyme it comes across stilted, awkward.
I believe if you read this aloud you would find this is not how you would speak, if that makes sense!

Yeah I must remember to work within the idea. Thank you.
I agree dear Julie.
"But your enemies you must beguile
Love those who love you not."
If we return the dislike. We will know darkness too. Amazing dance of words.

Repetition adds a rhythm to most efforts but be aware of the drawbacks ...too much or too complicated distracts rather than attracts listeners/viewers and sometimes doing such lessens the impact of YOUR intent.

This one felt distracting to me.
