I cannot imagine you properly.

I cannot see you without looking away.

I cannot feel you without reaching for you

I cannot seem to properly fix my gaze.

 

I pledge no allegiance, yet I cannot shake this experience.

Your existence made my simple life a maze.

I often ignore the shift you implore.

But I see you in every direction I take.

Your proclamations so rare

Can’t help but stare.

Yet I cannot seem to properly fix my gaze.

 

My temptations swallow me whole

often taking entire control 

but I do remember your gaze 

i do remember your breathing 

steady yet feeling 

that fire seizing 

that gaze giving meaning 

that my life can be much more 

than this pathetic loveless war
