Chapter 4 - The Remaining BeastsA Chapter by JulieZeeThe remaining sins infest our world and it seems all hope may be lost. The devastation was beyond comprehension. Our peaceful earth had never experienced such trauma. Old men cowered in fear, young children cried for their dead mothers. The sounds of mourning filled the air. Thankfully in those chaotic moments Ronnie The Guy and I had the presence of mind to send a message to David Dunn with IFAF in hopes that he would send help. Unfortunately the help would not come soon enough. Ronnie The Guy travelled our small world. There was now severe need for his power to exorcise demonic forces such as the type that had now run rampant across the increasingly barren earth. Pride may have died with its last whiny, but the sin of pride festered in the hearts of many. Our wonderful scientific community that was working on our space program began to fall apart. Scientists that thought they were too good to do simple data entry refused to work saying the task was beneath them. Ronnie The Guy prayed for many of them and their demons left their souls, but many others refused to work. With no job, there was no pay and therefore they were unable to buy food. Pride stopped them from receiving help and they died of starvation. 322 total scientists died leaving a debilitated skeleton crew behind. The next demon to surface was Envy. Many of us were enjoying a concert at our biggest park. The singer was beautiful and our Ronnie The Guy even took center stage to sing a beautiful song for our God. It was a glorious day that would soon go down in infamy. Half way through Ronnie The Guy’s chorus two dogs standing 20 feet tall, circled the crowd. They stalked outside the group looking for a weak person to pick off and licked their black lips after every bite of flesh. Their horrible green fur was matted with dirt and bugs and they smelled worse than a dojo in the middle of July. It was such a tremendous stench that 279 people dropped dead after suffocating on the noxious fumes. Ronnie The Guy rushed to the edge that was lined with the flags of our various cities. He tore off two flags and hurled them at the dogs. The flags flew true and the demonic hounds howled in pain. Ronnie The Guy charged at the first hound. Faster and faster he ran till he was only a few yards from the beast. He leaped in the air bringing his fist and the weight of his body down on the flag pole, driving it further into the dogs black hear t and ending its life. The second hound attempted to move, but the flag pole had impaled the dog through its torso and stuck in the ground making it impossible for the beast to do anything but squirm. Saliva dripped from the hounds snapping jowls. In one fast sweep, Ronnie The Guy brought an axe kick down on the dogs skull, crushing it and ending its life. 1479 people died that day. The very next day another monster reared its ugly snorting head. An orange pig with black eyes rose out of the earth, branded into its rump was the word Gluttony. As it shook the dirt from its hide it morphed into 1000 smaller pigs and they scattered through our world eating everything in sight. Ronnie The Guy and I called on a few of our friends to help hunt down the revolting beasts. We gathered ten of our most devoted fighters. Each had the task of killing 100 pigs. Gluttony had also infected our people and they too began devouring everything they could get their hands on. For the first time in our history a police force was needed which was headed by the quick witted, Gregory. Mind you that is Gregory, not Greg. While our brave ten were busy slaying their 100 pigs each and Gregory was attempting to restore order from numerous uprisings a lazy cow strolled into our capitol city. It was an ordinary cow by all means except for it blue hide that glowed like the moon. The cow was named Lust and even I had to admit it was quite a beautiful cow. Lust infected 500 with her sin and they died staring loving into each other’s eyes, refusing all things necessary to live claiming all they needed were each other’s love. Well, love goes a long way, but it does not feed your starving belly. All 500 died. A rumble filled the air and shook the earth. There is a cave on our second island, big enough to house 20 of your football fields. Glowing red eyes peered from the cave. Another low rumble rolled from the cave and I realized it wasn’t a rumble, but a growl from a red bear. Its head scrapped the ceiling of the cave as it lumbered out of the dark opening. Anger reared up on its hind legs and let out another terrifying growl before strolling through out cities swatting at anyone within range. The lucky ones were sent flying. The not so lucky were caught in his claws and swallowed whole. Before Ronnie The Guy or anyone had time to spring into action a slimy yellow frog by the name of Greed. Covering its body were large warts that oozed drops of slime onto the ground. As the sticky liquid hit the dust it turned into smaller frogs that soon numbered in the millions and swarmed any standing structures, the very weight of all the numerous, hopping bodies crushed everything they touched. Every remaining citizen armed themselves with brooms, tennis rackets and anything they could use to swat the nasty little creatures away. Our courageous ten warriors that had set out to destroy the 100 pigs were forced to stop half way through under the new threat of the frogs. Chaos ensued. 43 pigs still remained. They had eaten all vegetation and now were turning to eat our people. Lust, the blue cow roamed the streets infecting all she passed. Anger swatted and gulped down person after person. Yellow frogs continued to spill forth from Greed filling the earth with an eerie yellow glow. There was blood everywhere. I looked to my left and right and was encouraged to see that I was flanked by courageous citizens wielding anything that could be used as a weapon. We swung our swords and brooms defending ourselves, fighting for our lives and the lives of our family and friends. Our bodies dripped with the blood and guts of the demons. Hope began to grow as the number of demons began to dwindle. However our hope soon turned to despair. Far off on the horizon a shape began to take form. Lazily sauntering towards us was Sloth. The serene glow emanating from its fur immediately calmed everyone it passed to point that they laid down their weapons. © 2011 JulieZeeAuthor's Note
