Chapter 3 - PrideA Chapter by JulieZeeThe Emergence of The Seven Deadly SinsIt is amazing what a society can accomplish without petty things such as envy and pride. We were blessed with a state of the art federal science department where everyone was welcome and shared in the successes. We travelled the galaxy on ships built by our citizens. Such wonderful trips they were to see the stars and astral bodies so close. We were the only habitable planet in our galaxy and the surrounding galaxies. After the visit from IFAF with Chuck Norris and David Dunn we immediately started work on ships that would carry us further. How excited we were with the anticipation of meeting other species and visiting other planets. Those developments couldn’t come too soon. Satan was jealous of Ronnie The Guy and the close relationship he had with God. Every smiling face on our planet was a little reminder of the work that Ronnie The Guy was doing. With envy filling his dark soul Satan unleashed seven deadly beasts on our small world. I remember that day all too clear. A huge purple horse, snarling and spitting fire, descended from a black cloud in the sky. It had to be at least 25 hands tall with a purple mane that look more like fire than hair. Behind it was a chariot carrying six other rabid beasts. Demonic sounds filled the air as they impatiently waited for Pride to let them off. 2000 of us had gathered to listen to Ronnie The Guy speak about the Grace of God. Most of them did not stand a chance. Pride galloped through the crowd trampling babies, children, anyone who wasn’t fast enough to dodge out of the way of his hooves that had to be at least 20 inches in diameter. The wheels of the chariot finishing the job. Ronnie the Guy was quick to act. Using the microphone that he was using to spread The Word of Peace he created a lasso. He swung it high above his head waiting for the perfect moment. With an audible grunt he let loose the lasso catching Pride around his thick neck. The force pulled Ronnie The Guy from the stage and his body dragged in the grass behind the galloping horse. Inch by inch he pulled himself up to straddle the horse. He was staring at the huge neck of the horse. Now, let me tell you, Ronnie The Guy is no small man. He is six foot tall with the strength to match, but even his arms weren’t long enough to wrap around Pride’s neck. Lucky for him he had just come from the dojo and was still wearing his gi. He quickly took off his black belt and looped it around Pride’s neck. Using the belt and the cord from the microphone, Ronnie The Guy pulled as hard as he could, tightening the two around Pride’s neck, stopping the blood flow and cutting off the oxygen. The terrible beast reared and bucked as it fought for it’s life. Ronnie The Guy held tight, the flames from Pride’s mane licking his face. No pain was too much for Ronnie The Guy, he had the power of God on his side and the love of his people. With one final whiny, Pride dropped to the ground sending the chariot crashing into the stage. Ronnie The Guy held tight to his belt and cord until Pride’s heart stopped beating. He leapt from the horses back and surveyed the stage for the six beasts that had rode in with Pride. Ronnie The Guy’s face was burned and he looked quite frightening. All it took was one loud growl from him to send the other six creatures scurrying away. I surveyed the damage. In the end 1534 people died in that first attack and it took us two weeks to clean up the damage. A gnawing dread filled the survivors as we whispered about the six beasts that had gotten away. Ronnie The Guy warned us of what Pride had left behind and what he had brought in with him. Some of us heeded his warnings, but many did not. © 2011 JulieZee |
