WAS IT YOU?

WAS IT YOU?

A Poem by Julie Dant

WAS IT YOU?

I thought I sensed your presence

In the sultry southern night

Was it you?

Were you there?

Was the breeze I felt upon my cheek

Your breath as you breathed a sigh?

Was it you?

I thought I heard you murmer

Among the moss draped oaks

Were you there?

Were you walking right beside me

Along that dusty moonlit road?

Were you?

I thought you made me shiver

One more time with just your touch.

Did you?

I thought I felt the pressure

Of your fingers upon my lips.

Was that you?

High above these old live oaks

Are you watching over me?

Is it you?

Are you here?

If I reach out quickly and am fast enough

Will you perhaps have to stay?

Will you?

I agree with everyone else here. This is a beautiful piece! I love everything about it, your descriptions, the mood you paint with your pen, everything!
This piece also struck me because it is the flip side of a poem I wrote called "Right Her Beside You". Please do us all a favor on this site and post many many more pieces :)

You ask "Was it you?" - and in this question, there is love. Even if the feelings mentioned are figments of your imagination, whomever you are looking for - is there. Because you are thinking of that person - therefore, the spirit lives on.

I truly love this and can definitely feel the sadness you put into it. I think it is definitley good enough to be published and something everyone can relate to. Well done! :)

Wow...I was about to leave the site and saw this poem....so glad I opened it. You have written an absolute Gem. One that has touch my heart and left me misty eyed. I would award you for it if I had the privilege. Your imagery simply held me spell bound! Haunting and Romantic! ~This is Perfect from start to finish!

This is the most touching and sadly
romantic poems I have read.
"Was it You" questions shadows in the
night, questions what lies behind the mist.
The subject matter of this poem is all important,
but it is also very well written.
Congratulations ! A job well done.
