The Sun and The Stallion

The Sun and The Stallion

A Poem by MsJewel

Waiting, salivating,

hungry for deliverance…

Let it be the thundering of wild horses, right outside my window

fueling the ache

I can hear him calling,

Mount up girl, it’s time to ride

I run to the window

my naked frame hidden behind veils of black

the skeletal truth staring back

I lick my lips, the taste of salt in the cracks

and I’m off

Devouring the open road

Riding hard on time’s line,

where space opens up

Heading for the desert

where it’s as hot and bitter

as me

I allow my mind to wander, if only for a moment

remembering the consummate host of warriors,

 wanderers and poets

feeding my ever-increasing hunger for life

Yet never satisfying

I dismount quickly, my horse with no name

The sun and the stallion,

the only companions I need

Wow, once again I am amazed and enchanted by the visions, the freedom, the exploration and the desire created by your words. Hot or not, a trip to that desert sounds very inviting. Truthfully, the images that appear in the mind of the reader while perusing your poem are beautiful and inspiring. Nice one.

Just took me to a place where there's no coming back unless via dreams! You adventure.. you go and go, seemingly never looking back, thrilling at the emotions and rush of being alive. When a human being stops searching for that experience how sad.. and yet - yet, memories of life past inspire when shared. As your will here, Julie! Exciting and fine, fine writing.

Lovely words. I was especially drawn to these turns of phrase:
my naked frame hidden behind veils of black
I allow my mind to wander, if only for a moment
feeding my ever-increasing hunger for life

This reminds me of the last book Carl Jung ever produced. "Man and His Symbols". Humans are weird. The earth is stranger though.

It's a good read "man and his symbols". It gets a little corny but it was put together well because Jung died right before it was published and normal people finished it off. Jung was a genius but, he was a strange fellow when he wasn't publishing clinical text. Even that s**t was/is weird.

Hello dear Julie. I loved these words.
"I allow my mind to wander, if only for a moment
remembering the consummate host of warriors,
wanderers and poets
feeding my ever-increasing hunger for life
Yet never satisfying"
The above lines. So good. I must read to write and thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

I did enjoy dear Julie and you are welcome my dear friend.
Julie, your vivid imagination is so thrilling to see brought forth through your poetry. This is a ride that I would love to take with you. To let the top down, your hair down, and your inhibitions.
Enjoy that ride my dear friend, drop by and pick me up on the way.

Huggs, Trace.

Thanks so much Julie :)
Play America and The Eagles as its soundtrack. Even for a Brit this brings it all back. Oh and Steppenwolf. @Get your motor running. Head up on the highway.....' Wonderful.
