Some Roses

Some Roses

A Poem by MsJewel
"

for my lovely daughter

"

Some roses are so lovely

they see you smile…

petals dance

                on a lullaby

the joy of a songbird’s melody

high up in the trees

As graceful as the wind stirring your hair

weaving golden threads to catch the beauty of the day

             the light that is you

First in my love, my strength, my happiness….

In times of struggle, I look to you as I would an indigo dream

of endless skies and warm spring days

and birds that sing with lifted voice

as poetry finds my heart again

and I think

some roses are so lovely

Even before I got to the line that mentions it, I was hearing birds chirping and seeing the plants and flowers gently sway in the breeze.
This is why poetry exists, to fully convey feelings bursting from a heart.
I'm sure these words will be a future treasure to that child, all grown.
Beautifully penned.

Beautiful thoughts in this lovely poem. When the going gets tough our children and the love we have for them can certainly provide that spark of light to guide us through the darkness. Your lines are certainly filled with love and your poem a delight to read. Keep safe.

Chris.

That was a really beautiful poem. "Petals dance on a lullaby", a really unique vision you placed there and my favorite thing I've heard in a long time. Thanks.

Seeing your tribute under the title, I start out thinking I'm going to be treated to a point of view that I've not got, myself, since I never had kids. Always interested in a parent's or g-parent's POV. But I never had a chance to think of this poem as being about your daughter, becuz I was immediately launched into a sensory reverie so strong, I was like a ragdoll floating down a stream. This is incredible sensory writing, not just becuz of what your words mean & paint, but largely becuz of how your word strings sound. This is the kind of poetry I love. Take me away from the noise of this lockdown whining fomenting! This may be about love for one's offspring, but the way LOVE is painted in such a universal way here, this is also a beautiful easter poem, about the example of LOVE that Jesus intended for us all to be better at . . . hopefully someday (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

And on the mountain high where love dreams by and roses bloom on a Cliff where Eagles fly... There will be a sweet refrain when earth becomes a Lullaby... gently, Pat

Julie,
This is so beautiful. You paint the portrait, with wispy words that transcend into the spirit of who she is.
and if she can make your heart find poetry again, she is surely your muse. i really like the indigo dream.
