Chasing Cars

Chasing Cars

A Poem by MsJewel

Speedster, by Porsche.  Born in '75, like me.

                        Challenge me, if you wish

                        but tell me this…

Gentlemen, when you start your engines do they return the favor?

I don't know what to expect of you

                        yet

                        I demand everything of you

                        Even the impossible

                        because you encourage it

Men chase women they have no intentions of marrying

dogs chase cars they have no intention of driving

                        You think you fool me

                        but I like your deceit

Rotten as the apple fallen from the tree

No James Dean here to lend me his coat

                        but you fuel my hunger…

                        delightfully naughty

                        And…

                        You could love me

                        under the starry sky

                        Silky and smooth,

                        my skin like liquid moonlight

                        And still….

                        I would leave you

naked and trembling in the backseat

                        Wishing

                        you were chasing cars

now this was a "Friday night" poem... powerful and steamy... while I never woke up in the back seat naked, I did like to chase cars.... but alas, they were always too fast and got away before I could bite their tires... er.. sorry, my wolf totem spirit took over there for a minute... lol...

about the poem... did I mention powerful and steamy???? so a Porsche huh, sleek, silver streak rolling down the street but Julie, the back seat was way to small for an adventure... but in '75, my 58 chevy… well... er… never mind... lol..

seriously, I enjoyed your poem and all your "naughty delightfullies"....
Glad I found this poem as I have missed reading your poetry Julie...

That was best I've read. A missing word
The truth is out there. Women are cruel to dumb animals, mainly men.
Guy with a Porsche, keep it, something's got to make you big.
Enter this woman's lair and the end is nigh.
Shouldn't really like this poem, but I wish I had written it.

Thank you for your kind words Brandie :) Julie
you hooked me good in the opening ma'am! .....stinging commentary in:
"Men chase women they have no intentions of marrying
dogs chase cars they have no intention of driving"
i love the power and judo control of this woman in:
" but I like your deceit"
too much woman for me.... i'm leaving my Porsche in the garage ;)
all that's left is kicking him out the back seat and to the curb Ms. Jewel ...what a treat and surprise of a poem from your halls ...great read for me ... POWERFUL!

Thank you for your lovely comment. :) Julie
this is my very favorite poem i have ever read by you, Julie
love the James Dean reference and the way you brought in the idea of the dogs chasing the cars....sort of like men chasing women, but usually end up with their tails between their legs.
love it...a poem within a poem.

This a delightful poem.
'Men chase women they have no intention of marrying'.
There certainly is so much truth in that observation (which can also be vice-versa- women likewise).

WELL DONE

This is brilliantly sexy & clever! What a mind-twisting journey you take us on! The roads felt surprising, even tho your ideas ring out with familiarity. I'm very impressed by your creativity & imagination on this one. Many times I drove that stretch of road from Paso Robles (near where I grew up) to the Sierra Nevada mtns, passing by Chalome where James Dean died. Your poem puts me in the mindset I feel when I drive past there, as if reliving those preceding moments & years of fast cars & flaming hot urges (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This speaks so well to much of the interaction between men and women. We chase ... and chase vigorously ... though we have no real intent beyond a brief moment (much like dogs chase cars). Excellent write. ~Jim
