Monsters

Monsters

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ some inspiration from Stephen King ~

"

   I trusted him

        He knew

the trust of the innocent is a liar’s most useful tool

Perhaps he just rose from bed on the wrong side

        as if challenging fate

        Or could it be

the mind of a madman is a dark maze of intensity

        Passion,

                anger,

                        euphoria,

                                control

With an insatiable hunger, fueled by the moment

        His to possess, to enjoy

until it’s time for the next one

        Regardless,

he wore his wickedness as smile

mine ran away from my face

a smarter woman would have followed

(I plan to think about this later)

        But innocence can be deceiving

Once tempted by the fruits of one’s own mind,

        by the ache deep within

        that once touched

        must be touched

        again

                and again

And pretty faces don’t always have pretty intentions

Dine with the devil, reservations at 7

Serving youth and desire for appetizers…souls for dessert

        Lucifer winked

        so not to witness

the hem of my skirt riding up

just enough to keep him distracted

        "Yes, monsters are real

        They live inside of us

        Sometimes they win" Stephen King

I laugh to myself now when I think of him

Certainly a different poem for you. I love your romantic pieces but I now love this off the beaten path you took here. Stephen King may have inspired it but your poem stands on its own quite nicely.
Yes we all have good and bad within us, it is up to us to decide what we release upon humanity.

Thes light and dark wherever you go- what we allow to show or win is our choice- the line between good and bad so thin- and yet lucifer loves to see the dark win and yes he’s very real- we either entertain or reject - not always easy when emotions are involved - when we know better but entertain it there’s only us to blame- when people are innocently used and abused by others- there’s a time for all - every dog will have their day🌹

Oh, Julie, this one is a bit different from your others, but I just LOVED it! " he wore his wickedness as smile" Yup, a lot of folks do this and even though there are red flags, we still hang around. Perhaps we are all a bit masochistic. Hard to say. For sure, though, I say this one ROCKS! Lydi**

Your words are powerful and full of emotion which leaves the reader full of questions about this woman of mystery and liason with a man with ill intentions. It reminds me of the saying, "Beware of wolves in sheeps' clothing". Simply superb writing as always, Julie, full of fascinating images.

This is a very deep poem with touches of whimsy and frustration rolled in.
I recognize some of it as I too have experienced such.
I hope all is well with you and yours.
Enjoyed this poem.

The last line won it for me.

This poem shows the power of observation. Stepping back to observe the scenario can allow to make and unmake choices. Emotion usually wins the day, but when you are aware you too can temp fate, play the game, and withdraw when the fun is no longer there.

relationships are two sided - :D Nice words - I like this one - made me think X

There are a few fathers of daughter's from my not so glorious past that viewed me as the monster in their child, and would gladly have cut my old chap off given half the chance.
Everybody, at least once in their life, should throw caution to the wind, not think of the consequences and " go for it" no matter what the "it" may be.
Good morning, hope oh are well.
