Monsters

Monsters

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ some inspiration from Stephen King ~

"

   I trusted him

        He knew

the trust of the innocent is a liar’s most useful tool

Perhaps he just rose from bed on the wrong side

        as if challenging fate

        Or could it be

the mind of a madman is a dark maze of intensity

        Passion,

                anger,

                        euphoria,

                                control

With an insatiable hunger, fueled by the moment

        His to possess, to enjoy

until it’s time for the next one

        Regardless,

he wore his wickedness as smile

mine ran away from my face

a smarter woman would have followed

(I plan to think about this later)

        But innocence can be deceiving

Once tempted by the fruits of one’s own mind,

        by the ache deep within

        that once touched

        must be touched

        again

                and again

And pretty faces don’t always have pretty intentions

Dine with the devil, reservations at 7

Serving youth and desire for appetizers…souls for dessert

        Lucifer winked

        so not to witness

the hem of my skirt riding up

just enough to keep him distracted

        "Yes, monsters are real

        They live inside of us

        Sometimes they win" Stephen King

I laugh to myself now when I think of him

Certainly a different poem for you. I love your romantic pieces but I now love this off the beaten path you took here. Stephen King may have inspired it but your poem stands on its own quite nicely.
Yes we all have good and bad within us, it is up to us to decide what we release upon humanity.

These are my two favorite lines. Also a fan of Stephen King's work...added plus.
Mr Trace recommended your writing to me. I'm glad I listened. I shall return soon to read more. Have a good day.😁

Fun read! Always attracted to dangerous monsters with gorgeous smiles. Those damn vampires get me in every movie lol! You portrayed it well how easy it would be to be fooled by a handsome 'devil'.

Very good poem, Jewel. I love writing about monsters. And well, yeah, I'm a King fan, too.
"Dine with the devil, reservations at 7

Serving youth and desire for appetizers"
was a shattering line. It hooked me and left this as one of my favorite poems I've read over the past week.
Thank you for that.
Keep writing.

Thank you for your kind words. Happy Holidays :) Julie
The good and bad of a lover or a person in general. A great descriptive poem. About the monster in us all.

MS Jewel,
A different setting for your poetry but none the less your poetic talents run true. You knocked Stephen King out of the park. There is certainly a place for sensuality when dealing with evil. A fine line between love and lust. Your writing captured the moment in dealing with forbidden love.
Peace,
Richie b.

Nicely told, delightfully twisted aftertaste.

wow, i am with Dale...so different from you...and I love this.

I do like Stephen King also...and those demons within that at times we let out...and we certainly surprise those who think we are so nice---so easy going...not the one with a devil's intent.

I felt this poem was very difficult for me to interpret I had to read it twice. Did not sound like the usual MsJewel, but definitely held a deep meaning of perception.
