I can’t complain really, about the weather we’ve had here in February. It’s the first time in my lifetime that February has bee the warmest month in an Ontario winter. Your poem gives it a very pleasing and memorable send off. I like how you started this poem off walking the beach with rain hitting your umbrella... in a normal February here we would be cross country skiing on the beach :)
ahahaha ..well you do have a proper month in March to finish all that chocolate ;) i like February because of its shortness of days ..it means my paydays in March seem like bonuses ...
well done! February holds so much in the way of promise and disappointments ..the farther North one goes the more extended they can be ... your speakers love affair with Nature and its cycles is what speaks out loud and clear to me ...the lightness of the humor is a nice blend .. i am lucky as flowers have bloomed and our nights are cool 50s and days warm 70s at this time .. and i think our spring rains have dissipated .. enjoyed the read very much Ms. Jewel ... the beach scene with the umbrella is especially poignant to me

you capture this month perfectly here...there is really very little if anything that is comforting about February....i really think it is February, not April that is the Cruelest month.

May you soon see the return of the seagulls and other shore birds that are so pleasant at the beach but just out of reach of this city boy who need to go across country to see the sea shore on an Oregon State beach with my daughter leading the way and a diet Coke and peanut butter sandwich and a comfortable blanket t sit on the beach flying across country too see the west coast ocean views Oregon beaches with waters running down from the State of Alaska to shill up things just a little bit. but I don't mind its worth the trip.

February was uncommonly warm and dry. (Warm as in not below 20 degrees) but March is going to hit us like a banshee. Expecting blizzard tomorrow with over a foot of snow.
I love your sentimental rememberence of February and the yellow rain coat.
Stay warm and cuddly.

It has been chilly and gray..I'm wondering who took the sunshine :) Julie
I could say something cute and elegant here, but I've had to share the month of Feburary with red boxes of chocolate for thirty-three years as of yesterday. So, let me just say that you sold me on this month, if I hadn't been already, and that I love your poetry style. And I relate also because I have a raincoat that I've been meaning to return to Sears, wow, for years now.
Smiles and laughs....

Thank you for your kind words Wes. I appreciate it very much. :) julie
such sweet thoughts. cute writing, as one bids adieu to this month. captures the spirit of the second month of the year begging for rebirth to come. brings new light to the dead of winter with hope. your usual elegant touch ... :)
I like the "bright yellow rain coat I never returned to Macy's". It gives a splash of truth in thought without being too random or out of place, as if maybe it represents something deeper. I like pieces that diverge a bit in this way. Thanks.
Ya know, Julie?
Besides your clean, balanced, and gorgeous presentations and incomparable taste in illustrations, pictures, and paintings, your phenomenal syntax, amazing imagination, and endlessly creative bent, your seamless ease of flow, what I admire about your poetry is that it's simple, direct, and real -- never contrived.
You compose in ways I'm jealous of, I enviously wish were mine.
I just had to get that off my chest … LOL!
"I’ll think of you and smile
when my umbrella is tucked safely away
in the hall closet
behind my rain galoshes
and the bright yellow rain coat
I never returned to Macy’s"
And, the wrap-up verse is more than perfect.
Goodness-ME!
I've never seen of read February expressed more beautifully or any more touching to the senses and emotion. You always leave me sated, but ready for more.
Thank you, Julie, for the pleasure of sharing You through your poetry! ⁓ Richard : )
(now, you see why I read more than I review)
