So Long February

So Long February

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~writing on a rainy February afternoon - wishing for spring~

"

So long February…

To short days

and left-over winter nights

To lonely afternoons

wandering the deserted shore

searching for a seabirds song

to replace the pitter patter of rain

serenading my umbrella

Goodbye to

28 days

of a cold nose

and colder toes

29 on a leap year

Except of course

on that one day dedicated to love

when everything is warm and fuzzy

I’ll remember you

when spring is here

and the flowers in the window box bloom

in pastel shades

under marshmallow cream clouds

stirring confetti skies

The sun blushing my cheeks

I’ll think of you and smile

when my umbrella is tucked safely away

in the hall closet

behind my rain galoshes

and the bright yellow rain coat

I never returned to Macy’s

So long February

I’ll keep you forever

wrapped in red paper hearts

and a half eaten box of Godiva chocolates…

I can’t complain really, about the weather we’ve had here in February. It’s the first time in my lifetime that February has bee the warmest month in an Ontario winter. Your poem gives it a very pleasing and memorable send off. I like how you started this poem off walking the beach with rain hitting your umbrella... in a normal February here we would be cross country skiing on the beach :)

Yes February was miserable here in UK. Glad to say warmer days have arrived at last. I wonder if we'd apprciate spring as much if February was calm and mild.

Julie,
Creative writing to gently put this month to bed. Your words were descriptive and flowed well. You showed off your talent by choosing this subject. Wel done.

Aw, there are some nice things about February after all. I think so despite the wintry rain. Month of my birthday and wedding anniversary. Helps to get through the month quicker. I like the ambience in this write and the contrast between the cold of winter and the warmth of Valentine's day. Thank you

Chris

I still think you are a fairy hahah the way you write ohhhh it just takes me off into this world of clouds and blue skies and rainbows and butterflies and all things enchanted and mesmerizing and beautiful. in short, yes im convinced you are a fairy lolx, or something of a mystical creature. by all means do keep writing. i love them all. ohhh been away for so long how i had missed these, seeing all your requests now, going through them all and soaking in each one, may fail to review each but just know i love them all just as much. do keep the requests coming, they warm up my days when i get around to it.

Bitter sweet words mixed with romance and delightful things. February must mean something to you to dedicate a poem to it. Anticipation of spring is also on the narrator's mind. Excellent as usual...
