Cold and Deep

Cold and Deep

A Poem by MsJewel

Pale in winter white are clouds that weep

a snowflake's tender fall,

‘tis cold and deep

The frost of winter chill can't hold me dear

a tingle finds my cheek, one frozen tear

to dress my winter coat in quiet chill

gathered 'pon stormy winds, yet all is still

Taking the blue of skies, this frost that clings

in silence icy cries lost on the wings

of graceful nightingales and as they fly

sweet songs of joy are lost in the dark sky

Unzip the silent night for in my dreams

wrapped in the silver sheet of warm moonbeams

I find myself in spring, I feel the bliss

of butterflies, sweet perfume on my wrist

Caressed in warm embrace and flowery hue

with honey kisses sweet, romance is new

and soft as whispered words only love hears

fading slowly away as the dawn nears

Pale in winter white where my dreams sleep

and still the snowflakes fall,

 ‘tis cold and deep

Welcome back! Hugs, Julie
Beautiful poem aimed at spring for the dead of winter's angered winds. To a crisp spring like day where many dreams of winter cast away. Then the warmer winds of spring settle in and the crisp winds of winter are sweep away until when next Autumn breezes cast a shadow our way.

You are very kind. Thank you for your lovely words. :) Julie
Incredible recreation of a beautiful dream in perfect 10 count.
So sad when we have to wake to the grey sky of winter.
But to capture your dreams in poetry makes the waking necessary.
So glad you shared it with us.

I am struggling to find the words to accurately convey just how this poem effects me. So many wonderful images and tantalizing phrases from beginning to end are just indescribable. One can tell that your thoughts and words come from a very deep place. Simply stunning and a poem that I will need to save to read over and over again.

Your wonderful comment has made my day :) Julie
A phenomenal opening... and it gets better from there... love is capable of melting the coldest of hearts and bringing life to the most barren of souls.

WOW! Winter is NEVER like this for me! So thank you for helping me picture all this frosty discomfort in a new & passionate way! That's what's so cool about reading other excellent writers on this website -- showing me worlds I don't see, even when they're right in front of me. The third stanza is written so gracefully, I love the dance between your meaning, the sounds of your words, & the imagery it conjures up in my mind's eye. Love your writing every time! (((HUGS))) fondly, Margie
