Hands Entwined

Hands Entwined

A Poem by MsJewel
"

a collaboration with my best friend and favorite poet Trace

"

“A single rose can be my garden... a single friend, my world,”  Leo Buscaglia

He has never touched my hand

or heard a sigh slip from my lips

as I lay my head on his chest

warmed…

                                                                by a heartbeat familiar

He has never traced the curve of my face

or the pink of my lips

Yet, he has tasted my tears

             never dismissing them

          only brushing them away

‘til there is nothing left

                                                                              but to smile

No,

he has never touched my hand

                                Still,

it fits perfectly in mine

She has never touched my hand

or felt my whisper in her ear

                                  as I held her close

                                                on a sultry summer evening

She has never felt the strength of my arms

or the beat of my heart

that knows no bounds or borders

Yet, knows those same feelings exist

                                                           if only a heartbeat away

No,

she has never touched my hand,

but my heart…

yes,

                                hearts have touched

                                Like the gentle feel of

our hands entwined

Is this about abortion in some way? I might just be projecting of course but I couldn't stop thinking about that as I read this. It's objectively well written as usual, you write very pretty. "heard a sigh slip from my lips.." that's fancy good wordsmithing.

This is very timely & relatable becuz nowadays so many people meet online & never in person! I love the way this is presented from two similar & complimentary points of view . . . the title is especially meaningful since many of us who share online friendships do so by using our hands to communicate. I loved reading the comments (below) between you two co-poets. Nice to see such a heartfelt collaboration! (((HUGS)))

Its all in the touch, the application, the longing, just to touch and be touched elegantly said Julie.

This was incredibly sweet and thoughtful. The feelings delivered to me from this are very tender and soft, but bright and warm at the same time. Great job, both of you.

Trace and Julie, perhaps this poem took longer to come together than some of your others, but it is impossible to tell that while reading it. so emotive...a pleasure to read! Lydi**

This is beyond beautiful. I love the soft quality in the words which kind of transports a reader in a blissful moment. It's really something worth having, the friendships we have despite the seemingly uncovered distances over the online world....
A lovely write.

you're welcome, Julie. A pleasure always reading your works :)
There was a time when we could write a poem together in a matter of moments. Thoughts and words flowed like water from a crystal vase and we took inspiration from the sound of each other's voices.
This poem took a little longer to construct but the end result is (in my humble opinion) a wonderful creation of what we do best together. Building on and upon the thoughts and feelings of each other.
I am always thrilled and honored to write with you and blessed to have you as such a dear friend to me.

Huggs sweet poet...
Trace.

This is such a beautiful and sweetly flowing collaboration, Julie and Trace. You've turned the meaning of friendship without physical contact into something more than mere words. Poetry can indeed translate into more than.. .. .. Wonderful.

A testament to real friendship and to the way we can reach out across the internet despite the fact we can be many miles apart and may never meet. Written in a quintessentially romantic style.
