There is No Need to Water a Wilted Flower Garden

There is No Need to Water a Wilted Flower Garden

A Poem by MsJewel

There is no need to water a wilted flower garden…

The grass was so much greener when

the lilies stood tall against the roses

pink buds blooming on the vine

the scent of violets and lavender

wrapping me in a plume of a thousand beautiful things

Lush gardens and you

holding the heart of my heart

light as the breeze brushing my neck

kissing my cheek

with secrets of days to come

as my mind wandered among the butterflies

Who opened the venetian blinds

and let time in?

It wasn’t ours to fight against

And now, you are nothing but a haunting sunset

in the beauty of a vulnerable sky

while I’m left with the stars pulling my hair…

neurotic, destructive, fiery, dangerous, unrestrained

To hell, to hell with it…

There is no need to water a wilted flower garden

my god Julie, that was stark, raw and tears at the heart... the thing is too, there is such soft longing and love in the first part of the poem and then wham!! a haunting sunset... the stark reality of lost love... but it is exactly now when water is needed in this garden... I love your poetry Julie, even when it rips out my heart and stomps on it...

You are welcome dear Julie.
Oh My ... you've written another enthralling piece.
The metaphors, descriptions, and emotions flow seamlessly throughout the piece and the connection to the title at the end was absolutely brilliant. This poem's connection to nature was, in my opinion, the highlight in that nature builds most of the analogies throughout. In all, a lovely poem.

Beautiful, a romantic stroll through what was and then foot stamping anger at its loss.

A flower once left for too long without care
everyone absorbs its beauty
giving it nothing but air
but it needs so much more
it is silent and no one knows what to give anymore
and it wilts to death
thats why only truly sensitive people can care for flowers

Thank you :) Julie
it's an allegory on love...when in its natural, reckless abandon, kind of state, it is perfect chaos...like a garden that is just growing on its own...but when we try to tame it...it wilts.

Our hearts need tending to, like the garden. The soul thrives when it is needed, and scars when it is bruised...just like the wilted petals. You gave credence to the pain, and then let it go with a last breath...well done, Julie!

Thank you for your lovely comment Kelly :) Julie
After such loss, how do we ever let the heart thaw again or indeed water that garden, you always hold such impact in your poetry, amazing! :)

You're welcome 😊
If I weren't the sensitive type this poem wouldn't have any effect on me.
But you know I am
And your words have touched my soul.
And made me tremble.

This work is so good.
