Sweet Nothings

Sweet Nothings

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ a heartprint ~

"

                             art ~ Mark Spain

I’ve never been to Paris

and yet…

I’ve watched the sunset over the River Seine

warmed by a kiss of a breeze

scented with chocolate and raspberry macarons

Your champagne lips whispered sweet nothings

I caught them,

                                savoring each delectable treat

a coy Audrey Hepburn

to your most charming Cary Grant

We danced

as slow as the lights flickering on the water

as graceful as the sweet nothings

shimmering in the moonlight

No

I’ve never been to Paris

and yet...

I have to admit I've never been a romantic. But this is a very romantic poem that I've enjoyed. Maybe it's that Paris thing. Was in Paris with a buddy in Oct. '70. Should've stayed a bit longer . . . but we found it less than hospitable to US GI's in the Viet Nam era. Still it is a beautiful and exotic city. My middle daughter was proposed to at the top of the E. Tower. Thanks for the read.

Where is our delicious Romantic poet... we miss you in Spring when blossoms have a fragrance of midnight dew... and in the Summer when meadows weep with wild flowers without you... then in the Autumn when colors fall upon our head ... and poets grieve without you. Winter is spent by a warm fire with embers of your words.
Prayerfully, Pat

I lived in Paris and although it wasn't like this, it wasn't meant to be. This is the city of romance and imagination you speak of here. And I love it.

no I never been to Paris but is would be a nice trip I never left my country except on a cruise ship down to some funky island in the atlantic Ocean when I was a younger man.

A whisper of a poem that leaves the reader satisfied that a remote taste that might be enough to transport them there in savory delight. It's quite lovely.

Thank you my dear friend. It is always a delight when you visit :) Julie
Very beautifully written to evoke the pure romance of this city. I love the way you start & end with the declaration that you've never been there, but then you go ahead & take us there anyway! Many subtle references thru-out to conjure all the senses into this exploration, both familiar & unknown (I love juxtapositions becuz life is full of contrasts) . . . (((HUGS)))
