'Tis the Season

'Tis the Season

A Poem by MsJewel
"

winter is cold without the one you love

"

Photo compliments of Pinterest

Tis the season

for hope and joy and love…

for words that loved ones say

that echoed once

but seem to fade

when all there is between us is the snow

and this longing, uninvited

yet living, breathing, chilling a heart

aching to be wrapped in love

your love

but there are no roses bright enough

to warm the winter coat

that hides my smile

as I listen to the nightingales sing

and the midnight winds complain…

if I could

there is only a wish on a magical night

and a Christmas star

that falls like dreams and soft snowflakes

after all…

‘tis the season

Julie, I'm sorry we've lost touch, I've written and posted several Christmas pieces that I wish you would look at. I the meantime, your poem: Christmas is a time of love and joy, but there are millions of stories of this Christmas love being unrequited, separated by miles and weather systems. Then the Christmas color palette changes from predominantly red and green to blue all over. Then no matter how warm and toasty the fireplace works, no matter how hot the chocolate...there hangs a dank chill. Here's hoping YOUR Christmas finds the warmth it seeks and settles in for hugs and chocolate...draped in tinseled heartbeats. take care...dan

Wishing upon a star to have that special someone come back for just one more hug....one more night. Oh, this is a poignant beauty, my friend. I hope you had a good holiday and that your year will be a happy one. Beautiful poetry. Lydi**

Winter snow & cold-en nights have their own essentialism to have people lost in its divinely 'season' with prettify love & the peace of life. Not a bad shot. Nicely pen'd up!

i get so excited to see you have posted anew ..this poem is so wistful ..almost melancholy .. the musing in the last two lines is just so sad ... so many of us experience worse loneliness, depression, and despair during our most celebrated days ... and when sunshine is lacking for weeks at a time it is even worse ... for me however, all those difficult times seem to be far away and my age truly is revealing those "golden years" ...and trying is not part of my tools anymore ..so your poem also points me to gratitude for so very many things in my life ..including you Ms Jewel of the romantic poem ;) Merry Christmas!

It is so good to read your lovely yet wistful poem.
I am glad to see you writing.
We have received a ton of snow here.
Pretty but cold.

Hope to see more from you soon.

Huggs.... TRACE

When I finished reading this enchanting poem it was if I had awakened from a beautiful and magic dream. Your words glisten like fresh fallen snow reflecting the winter sun as it rises. I feel there is more of a meaning to this than I am picking up on, but I'll just take with me how it makes me feel. Beautiful poetry.
