In the Sunlight

In the Sunlight

                       Art ~ Gary Benfield

The fields were ripe, the strawberries sweet

on vines intertwined, glistening from the dew

through summers warm golden flecks

silken new grass sprung forth from meadows green

We stood a moment in the sunlight

a moment uncounted by time

to sigh…

                                                                                to swoon…

With nary the touch of your hand in mine

                          the leaves rustled

long branches bending to the wind

                                your tender lips beckoned

The scene summoned emotions unfamiliar

Is it not sweeter than a foolish kiss

or to bear your bodies weight upon my breast?

With a fragrant perfume adrift on the breeze

the sensation of you…next to me…

breathtaking

                                                Yes, for a moment

                                                                                   summer held us

                                                                               … in the sunlight

okay my initial review was silence, however that just doesn't work well in this format. this amazing write has such a simple, classic feel to it. with every word whispered i fell deeper into a romantic black and white movie completely surrounded by the longing passion of wishes and hope. another excellent write about love Julie and Trace. would say more but my silent side gets jealous. :)

sincerely, Mark

My ultimate favourite romantic writers doing a collab, I'm so lucky to be able to read your pens when they merge as one. You guys are made to write together. Honestly one of the most gorgeous collabs I have read.

Beautiful. i was carried away in the scene...felt the rays of a sun upon me and saw myself with an angle on the fresh green lawn..somewhere far away :)
