Wild Horses

Wild Horses

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ a heartprint ~

"

He is the unpredictable tide sweeping an ocean of memories

long elegant fingers strumming his guitar

coasting gracefully

rising

            suddenly….

crashing to shore with the angst

                 of Mick and Keith

to the melodic hunger of Wild Horses

I see him in Patrick’s Pub

the quiet one

                                                                  on the last barstool

with the messy blonde hair

nursing a glass of Guinness

as he writes on white paper napkins

tapping his pen on the bar absentmindedly

He is the man on the black and silver motorcycle,

the low, deep rapapapapa of his Harley

gliding through the  curves of Pacific Coast Highway

                                                                                untamed and free

bare knees peeking through the holes of his faded Levis

  And I’m the girl

whose heart still beats a little faster

when she hears

rapapapapa

knowing it couldn’t be him...

and yet, finding solace

in the love poems

scribbled on a few frayed white paper napkins,

….and an old cassette of Wild Horses

beautiful reminiscing of that wild, very special love .. it is my poem Jewel! ;) I have built, owned and riden HD since 1967 .. presently my ride is the '03 Centennial Edition Heritage Springer ... silver and black ;))) i will keep this one to the end ... the Coastal Hwy ride is one of the best ..tho now in the Ozark Mnts I find many that are equal ;) if this is "confessional" i am happy for your memory ..grateful you have shared ... one thing tho... i don't think the tides are all that unpredictable .... not many HD men are also poets ... he must have had some pretty strong feelings for your protagonist :))) very much enjoyed the ride that "Wild Horses" took me on ..perfect shout out to Mick as well .. you have set me in a wild and dreamy mood

You have lovingly drawn a magnificent painting of love and longing, of memories and beautiful souls in love. Passion that stems from a lovely heart.

what a tremendously heart-felt poem, Julie... you capture so vividly those little things we never forget about that one we love... reflective in it's nature, the piece speaks to just how deep you loved this person; the essence of his love left on napkins and an old cassette tape... this one brought a tear to my eye, a mix of sadness and joy that you got to know such love :)

Julie, Aah one of the Stones' very best! Setting the piece partially in a pub gives it some old fashioned Brit flavor, Mick and the boys closed enough of those places down over the years. And the poem itself? Right on time, perfectly penned and that flash of romanticism for a conclusion. Such a fine write. This one goes right into the library, and thank you for that! take care...dan

Jewel, I love this poem. It is so beautifully descriptive, with longing and history. I love the romantic imagery of the horses running wild on the beach, and the yearning for a nameless Harley riding poet in a bar on the Pacific Coast Highway. Great writing. Thank you. You effortlessly combined four of my favorite things into one beautiful work of art: horses, the waves at the beach, motorcycles, and poetic men in old levis. Great job, girl!
