The Haunted One

The Haunted One

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ a bittersweet sonnet ~

"

~~~
When night gives pause to a pale moon above
where beauty found me once, my heart, your love
still warms this tender place where I’ve become
a prisoner to the night, the haunted one
Catching whispers of moonlit memories
of words that lovers say, now reveries
to dress my pillow, silly as it seems
with visions of you love, and in these dreams…
You kiss my lips and brush the falling tears
in which I drown and yet I breathe, the years
cannot erase the ache, although divine
are the night skies above when moonlight shines
You may keep a piece of this heart that grieves
and I will keep the night, the memories
~~~

To understand the depth of the emotions that you spill in this piece
One has to know the heart of the poet that lost her true love.

I know.... and I understand.....
And I am amazed at the beauty you find in the memories of that love
And how is fills the pallet with words that you paint your masterpieces of poetry.

I am so glad you share that with your friends.

Thank you for your lovely comment :) Julie
Excellent examples of alliteration abound in this lovely, well composed poetic effort, Jewel. Your use of enjambment is flawlessly executed, your message poignant, your verse, lilting. The presentation as a whole is eloquently stunning.

Amazing work...

Breathtaking words, Julie! The ache of losing someone you love never quite leaves you, but it does get a little easier with each passing year. Your words are filled with heart wrenching emotion. An emotional masterpiece and while it is poignant, it is magnificent. Lydi**

This is beautiful. I felt each line as it is in the night that dreams or thoughts bring my husband back to me and waking in the morning to the emptiness is heartbreaking. You hit the nail on the head with this write. Valentine
