The Days of Spring

                                  art ~ Lauri Blank

A time for love, the days of spring

of butterflies on painted wing

as tender lace swept meadows fair

upon a breeze to tangle hair…

I reminisce, as far above

a whisper of falling in love

danced gracefully in flowery bliss

the sweetest scent upon my wrist

A gentle plume to fill the skies

the bluest blue...your lovely eyes

and in your kiss, a warm embrace

to blush my cheeks,

                         I

            still

                      can

                              taste

the morning sun and honey dew

tracing the curve of me and you

My heart fluttered…the days of spring

of butterflies on painted wing

This is one of the prettiest poems of yours I have read in a long time.
Not that any of your poems are not pretty
But some flow so easily and sound so soft and sensual
When read out loud.

This has . Real feel to it
Like an actual feeling put to verse.

Excellent poetry my dear friend.

A gorgeous piece of springtime poetry that draws one in and sends them down memory lane to think of that perfect moment when new love was born. Beautiful!

Every time read your pieces there is always a line of three that makes my body and head unwind and just feel the words, relax, letting heaviness go... In this one, the entire poem had that effect. I read it five times now, did not even really pay attention to the meaning the first three times (not that it is cryptic in any way), I just love how you make a single word, a string of words, language flow so smoothly and accommodating.

I love your work, Julie! :)

I think you did a wonderful job,but i think you should of described the lovers as nature themselves.....

heavy sigh! ... it flows like rivulets, cascading words, bewitching, willingly under your spell! :) Spring seems slow in coming around my pond .. tho this morning feels a bit more like it .. reading your poem has definitely ushered her in ;)

Ahhh those butterflies,
on cushioned skies,
keeping our hopes high,
with scattered sighs..
``` sorry couldn't help it. romantic to the core, soft and seductive!
