Yes, we would have kissed

if he had been mine…

 

In Augusts’ warm mist

when ripe on the vine

were strawberries sweet

and luscious to lips

just longing to meet

in soft little sips

 

The sun was a fire

through clouds of whip cream

‘til fervent desire

in a sky of dreams

faded into the mist

of twilights soft threat

 

Yes, we would have kissed

had the sun not set

One never knows when the opportunity may arise again,
don't let it pass by without exploring the possibilities.

The sky you paint with your words has an almost other-worldly quality Julie and its the perfect backdrop to the perfect kiss and that makes it all the more bitter-sweet that it isnt going to happen. Its such a dreamy write - I suppose the happy ending doesnt work out that often - even in poetry world.
