After All This Time

~ a heartprint ~

After all this time...

 

the white calla lilies still stand proud

against the multicolored palette of roses

warming the worn cobblestone path

 

as the morning breeze

weaves the song of time

                                effortlessly

ruffling the branches of the old willow tree

 

and I’m here

curled up in memories

watching a cascade

                                 of dew kissed morning glories

                                             dance through mother’s garden

 

if it weren’t for the shadows in the sky

                                  raining on my heart

                        it would be just as she had left it…

I wrote this after visiting my mother's garden - I had not visited since she passed away...and though it was sad, it did give me some peace. I'm thrilled you enjoyed this one - it is one of my favorites.

The title caught my eye. Feelings or sentiments lasting our perception of vast expanse of time are worthy of poetic statues in their honor. Yet, our perception of time is distorted at best and rather less substantial than the affect of meaningful lives and profound moments.
A lovely penning indeed.
