After All This Time

After All This Time

A Poem by MsJewel

After all this time...

the white calla lilies still stand proud

against the multicolored palette of roses

warming the worn cobblestone path

as the morning breeze

weaves the song of time

                                effortlessly

ruffling the branches of the old willow tree

and I’m here

curled up in memories

watching a cascade

                                 of dew kissed morning glories

                                             dance through mother’s garden

if it weren’t for the shadows in the sky

                                  raining on my heart

it would be just as she had left it…

I love it, just love it and beauty of it paints a gorgeous picture without the painting (dreaming that's me, hehehe) The somber ending is beautiful and if is it true for certain she is proud of you. Everytime I come here, I know peace and calm is awaiting tickled and freckled with the most beautiful words. Thank you so much again.

Jewel, you always paint such lovely pictures with your words...the serene garden where sorrow flows for the loss of a loved one. There are some losses from which we never recover. Beautiful write. jaycee

Well this piece was a breezy as it gets, leaves a pleasant smile on the face after reading. No matter where I was at in the day, reading these words would've actually refreshed my mind.
I cant describe or review this piece any better than that.

thank you for your very kind words :) Julie
The title caught my eye. Feelings or sentiments lasting our perception of vast expanse of time are worthy of poetic statues in their honor. Yet, our perception of time is distorted at best and rather less substantial than the affect of meaningful lives and profound moments.
A lovely penning indeed.

Sounds like reminiscing from years gone by, at least its what I see interesting format though. Nice poem and so calming view from the photo

I think your mother and my mother would have got on just swell.
They loved their gardens so much and I imagine yours having as big a heart mine.
Beautiful poem Julie. xo

MsJewel, This poem appears to be in memory of someone no longer with you. Your beautiful words made my poetic senses flutter; a very touching piece, and the graphic is a perfect accompaniment for the words. (I'm very new here at Writers Café; I have to learn how to add graphics to my submissions.) Thank you for the opportunity to read this lovely piece. take care...riki
