Julie, this is gorgeous.
I see two meanings here, one that the love doesn't live there anymore, though the roots are still firmly planted, the other (preferred interpretation) those bare trees are naked, vulnerable and ready for love to come round again. Either way it's stunning.
Such a delicious, quiet feeling expression and impressions of thought, that is very simple in its feel, yet so eloquent in quality. Balboa Street would be a nice place to visit sometime.
Thank you for allowing us to read this lovely offering.
Beautiful artwork and amazing place you took me in your words. I need a walk on Balboa street. Good to know love and see the beauty of nature with good company. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I see below that many have interpreted this in different fashions, to me I only see a beauty that can come from accepting winter and what it brings and the hope that spring will arrive soon. Yes, there is a sadness, but a sadness that can easily change once the sun returns smiles to the earth. (if that makes any sense). Beautiful Julie.
I dont think I have ever used the word: "angst" before
but I am pretty sure it applies here.
I along with so many others can read so much in your words
That are almost heart breaking wistful
Yet there still seems to be hope for some kind of change come springtime.
