Daddy's Shoes

Daddy's Shoes

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ a little heartprint ~

"

Art ~ Steve Hanks

~~~
When handsome knights wore daddy’s shoes
and princesses rode horses too
in fairytales we would play
The kingdoms that we would explore
not far beyond the back screen door
in lands so faraway
Where flowers danced and lightly swayed
and daisies winked as we would play
and Jack, he had that bean..
Where castles built upon a moat
were mysteries; how did they float?
perhaps it was the queen
The wicked queen with magic spells
in her dungeon a dragon dwells
he eats children for lunch!
Yet I was safe, as you can see
I had my knight to protect me
that dragon he would crunch
Then on my horse, off we would ride
my handsome knight right by my side
the sky in sunset hues
But tomorrow brought a new day
filled with magic from far away
when knights wore daddy’s shoes
So very heart-warming! Could'nt we do everything back then the tiny tots, there was'nt anything impossible. Imagination made the lines marking the limits fade right away. This piece is a wonderful thing, it fills the heart with the old joy and exhilaration.
your more than welcome and very deserving from this poem
You wrote this? Wow... This is amazing! It's so beautiful and you took EVERY aspect of a child's imagination and put it all together like a puzzle and added the iconic "little girl's hero," a father. This is beautiful. :)
Childhood is undoubtedly the most wonderful time when magic is still alive. I guess that all comes from innocent heart and clean slate. Your work sent me back to my own childhood. I guess it has the same effects on others too.
For some reason my comments keep disappearing
I dont know if your brother reads your poetry
But this should be made into a poster and framed
And given to him for his birthday.
The innocence and love is so powerfully recollect that it make ones heart swell.
I really love the incredible story and perfect rhyme in this charming tale.
This is another wonderful addition to your collection of childhood poetry.
Whimsical and reflective. A poem that brings the reader back to childhood. There is also a bit of melancholy....a wishing things were still as they were way back when. The rhyming is super in this one, Julie...and the graphic is perfect for your words. I enjoyed this. Lydi**
and you have inspired many more memories from your readers .. how can one not fall to such enchantment? .. my mom made those sock head horses for me and my sister .. but i confess i rode mine a lot more than she .. it went to the blacksmithy more than once :) .. fine flow and rhyming .. not a stumble in it .. enchanting is the word!!
