This is a re-write of a poem I posted last year. I thought it was worth reposting as a reminder our homeless population is growing and an alarming number are children. There are many charities such as Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child, the Goodwill and the Salvation Army that need volunteers. Whether it’s donating food or a gift, giving your time, saying a prayer, or sharing a smile…it all makes a difference ~
Happy Holidays to you and yours. :) Julie

This is a powerful write Julie, heartbreaking but so real. I live in a country where every traffic light has someone asking for something to eat and our homeless camps are growing by the day. The hollow and emptiness in the eyes is what make me sad, you can see they have lost hope. Blessings to you.

We always need a reminder of those who are doing it tough not only during Christmas but every single day. Some people don't realize how good they have it, and they tend to take everything for granted. I feel for those out on the streets, in Cairns grieving with the eight children being killed, and the massive siege that happened here in Sydney Australia. It's unfair to the families who have lost so much within seconds, minutes and hours. My love goes out to all those effect everywhere in the world. Thanks for sharing this amazing piece.

The true meaning of the season is that of giving. You have taken the face of need and put a face upon it. We must always remember those who need us. That is our purpose here, to help each other, there is no higher calling. I hope this poem reminds us to listen to that call.
always need to be reminded .. if things are going well its so easy to be swept along a joyful trail .. with blinders on .. i like the way you start and finish with the tent in the park .. brings it all together in a compassionate request to help .. thank you for the reminder ..

Thank you for your compassionate words. Happy Holidays my friend :) Julie
A very sad realism for far to many people. And even more people are living on the edge, looking out over a possible future like this. Wish more people thought as you think.

I know you would never want credit for all you do for this cause
But just the writing of this poem is a very powerful wake up call to those of us that are a little more fortunate
To help those who, through no fault of there own have fallen on hard times.
I however will brag just a little about my best friend just because you DO so much.
The work you do for Samaritan purse and other charities is commendable, and I know you donate more time and money that is so appreciated and needed.
You are a true Christmas angel my dear friend.
Merry Christmas.

that's probably the saddest poem i've ever read and you have given us a message to be aware of those less fortunate, a great poem Julie with a lot to say about the state of this world when people are left in the cold when they could be so easily helped by governments who could easily provide homes for all, especially if they gave more for their own than waste it on unnecessary projects elsewhere, better get off this high horse before i fall, remarkable writing Julie :)
