For Autumn and For Always

When the sun won't shine
like I want it to
and my thoughts bleed shades of grey
I will lean on you

 
When your heart is sad and heavy
and cold winds seem to call
When you need arms to hold you

I’ll catch you should you fall

 

 

         

It is Autumn

the air filled with pumpkin scents

and golden hues

 

Change stirs the breeze, ruffling the leaves

once lush and green,

dressing the trees in tiny flames

                              like rain

 in crimson red and brilliant orange

 

                                Still,

                 it’s a winsome breeze

perhaps it doesn’t know

                                 it’s almost winter….

 

When the leaves have fallen

and the breeze shivers through lonely branches,

I’ll find shelter in your arms

Knowing....

                                     I can lean on you

                                                                 you would never let me fall

my heart is warmed with the magic that happens when your talented pens merge.. it is so nice to see a piece by you two.. this one has the exquisite emotion but some breathtaking imagery as well.. it is spiced just right and the moving sentiment hits in all the right spots.. makes the hopeless romantic inside me swoon in appreciation.. awesome job you two.. True friends can get past almost any obstical when there is love and respect for each other.

The seasons are always great imagery and metaphor for the close relationship that is possible between two people, whether as friends and/or lovers, or in a more general way. I think that the gentle caring words found here in this collaboration (Julie, Trace), bring alive the fall colors and is enhanced by the warmth of a deep friendship felt by both of you... Mutual support is part of this, not allowing either to fall, but there is also the "always" part of this and is deeper in my view and how this is written... it's a very cool poem and I liked muchly...
