In the Shade

In the Shade

A Poem by MsJewel

                   photograph ~ compliments of pinterest

It is quiet

in the shade

watching the blue light call

for an afternoon of daydream skies

      filled with rose petal wishes

                The ocean answers

a soft serenade of wandering tide

or perhaps a lament of hopes sailing away

too soon to tell I fear

Shall I rid myself of you…

of daydreams whispering on sunlit tides

and roses blooming on vines

tangled in a verse

          written only for two?

My hand is lonely, empty without yours

and yet,

                                 prickly

are those rose petal wishes

swords piercing my heart…

‘til tides are silent and wishes lay mute

                                 on soured lips

Bitter is the taste

                        in the shade

You are by far my favorite poet. The way you words things delve within me and touch every aspect of my heart... I will follow your poetry devoutly. I enjoy the passion and the wording of it. It is all relatable and lets us know we are human for feeling a certain way. CHEERS!

Sadly I know this feeling, I have sat in this shade before and it is not refreshing. But Julie, what I found was, without sunshine there can be no shade. Walk out from under that tree and let the warmth touch you and return the happiness to your world. This was a pure beauty, which regardless of the theme you choose, always flows from your pen. I really enjoyed this today.

Thank you for the lovely encouraging words. Hugs, Julie
Oh my sweet Julie.. my heart goes out to you with this write.. the shade can be bitter after such a brilliant ray of sunshine comes into our lives and nurtures those bittersweet memories and allows the heart to grow.. the cold, empty loneliness, ever a reminder of the warm heat that was once there.. but it can and does burn sometimes, so it is safer and helps hide the weary, and hesitant heart.. such a moving write my friend.. as always breathtaking and tugs on the heartstrings.. ((hugs)) to you ma'am...

When the heart is broken even the most blissful things in life can have a negative effect on you. As usual your poetry has moved me.

You are welcome Julie :)
Such a bittersweet refrain, Julie. The scene at the beach is so lovely, but the "rose petal wishes" seem to drown in the waves. The romantic longing is intense in this one. The choice of graphic is perfect. Great one. Lydi**
