More Than a Summer Day

More Than a Summer Day

A Poem by MsJewel
"

~ for Hannah ~

"

Mark Arian art

The beauty of a summer day

one could not compare

to all that I have found in you

for you take me where

I see the dawn in golden light

dress the morning skies

warming the dew that shimmers there

to stir the butterflies

I hear the birds sing melodies

through the wind untamed

while the flowers upon the hill

in petals write your name

Light and carefree, sweet wildflower

dance upon the wind

sing with the birds your gentle song

and when tree branches bend

It’s only in your loveliness

they curtsey as they sway

for your beauty is even more

than a summer day

~~~
Julie thanks for taken me there on this wintery night its below zero I freezing numb and I don't know what I would do with out a friend like you to warm me thoughts up like this poem does. Brings me back to the summer's day and a warm breeze as butterflies play and flowers sway in the winds. Thanks Jim Smith February 21,2015 Have a great weekend.
Heavy sigh! The maternal love and adoration in this one is downright magical, Julie! No one will ever love you like your mother does and surely Hannah knows this. Gorgeous sentiment. Lydi**
Let time stand still, stair at the sky count clouds, remember your
Beautiful doesn't cover it,visually stunning and yet warmth resonates and endures.
Thank you :) Julie
The unconditional, pure love that we feel for those special souls in our lives is so palpable here Julie.. It flows across the page and into our souls warming and caressing in such a beautiful way... The last stanza is my absolute favorite and gave me chills... I would maybe say, "than a summer's day".. gorgeous write... breathtaking even... To bask in that adoration and affection is glorious indeed and we only get a glimpse...
Thank you for your lovely words April :) Julie
i am already gushing just reading this is "for Hanna" .. such a lovely name .. full of grace and mischief ;) then i take in the art .. mothers full embrace for daughter .. providing the safety and acceptance that allows a child to sail .. then i read your poem .. so full of wonderment, appreciation and beauty .. wrapped in rhyme, cadence and nature .. i think you either put some time and effort into this wanting it to be perfect .. or .. you were overcome with the creative urge and your muse .. i enjoyed this read very much .. men don't typically have the advantage of this perspective .. we can only brush up against it from time to time .. thank you for sharing!
